Builders (2018)

The Builders is inspired by real-life stories of people who work and live around us.
They build our houses and create the visible structures around us. Despite of that we hardly ever see them, not in our everyday lives nor on the theatre stages. Who are these invisible builders? Where do they come from? What are they thinking while building the houses we are living in?
The builders is the first part of the Invisible Finland trilogy. With this trilogy seeks to challenge the actual power structure in the Finnish theatre by asking: Who can be a character in a Finnish play? Who can perform on the theatre stages in Finland? Who can speak aloud? Whose voices are we hearing? Who can represent whom?
Rakentajat (2018)
Rakentajat perustuu ympärillämme elävien ja työskentelevien ihmisten tarinoihin. He rakentavat talomme ja luovat näkyviä rakenteita ympärillemme. Näemme näitä ihmisiä kuitenkin hyvin harvoin, arjessamme tai teattereiden lavoilla. Keitä nämä näkymättömät rakentajat ovat? Mistä he tulevat? Mitä he ajattelevat rakentaessaan asuntojamme?
Työt odottavat ja niin odottavat työmiehetkin – rakennusmateriaaleja, palkkaa, viikonloppua. Kotona perhe odottaa puhelinsoittoa, lomaa, isää. Aikataulu ja kommunikaatio pettävät, uusi materiaali ei suostu käsiteltäväksi ja eikä helle hellittä. Työmaalla uudet ja vanhat haaveet kietoutuvat toisiinsa ja luovat perustuksen pilvenpiirtäjälle – Suomen korkeimmalle! (tai ainakin melkein). Tästä se tulevaisuus alkaa.
Rakentajat on Näkymätön Suomi trilogian ensimmäinen osa. European theatre collective haluaa haastaa vallassa olevat rakenteet kysymällä: Kuka saa olla hahmo suomalaisessa näytelmässä? Kuka saa näytellä teattereidemme lavoilla? Kuka saa olla äänessä? Kenen ääntä kuunnellaan? Kuka saa esittää ja ketä?
